According to a flash estimate of the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic, the Slovak economy grew in the fourth quarter of 2015 by 4.2 percent year-on-year. This, according to J&T Bank analyst, Stanislav Pánis, represents an acceleration compared to the 3.7 percent growth from July to September. The seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) in the euro area and throughout the European Union in the fourth quarter of 2015 expanded by 0.3 percent compared to the previous quarter. In annualized terms, the euro area's GDP in the final quarter of last year swelled by 1.5 percent and in the EU18 by 1.8 percent. The annual growth of the Slovak economy was the fastest among the countries from which data was available.
