The tender for the construction of a road bypass around Bratislava is closed. The State Secretary at the Ministry of Transport, Construction, and Regional Development Viktor Stromček announced this on Wednesday, adding that no objections against the evaluation of the bids were raised and thus the construction could start as early as this spring. The Government has yet to okay the entire project. Stromček called on the public to contact the ministry if there are any objections to the materials, claiming that the ministry is ready to discuss them. The Cabinet is to debate this public-private partnership project (PPP) for the D4 and R7 construction on Wednesday, February 17. The company Cintra submitted the lowest price bid. It promised to build the bypass in 4.25 years for annual instalments of €56.72 million over a 30-year period. It's estimated that after 30 years the bypass might cost around €1.7 billion.
