Slovakia has found itself among the 20 'most miserable economies' in a Bloomberg agency ranking, reports Hospodárske Noviny daily on Wednesday. The agency's ranking includes 63 countries mainly in Europe and North America, but also some states from Asia and South America. It takes into consideration inflation and unemployment in the country, and experts criticise it for offering only a very simplified view of an economy. Slovakia has found itself among the worst countries due to its high rate of joblessness. The country has been struggling with high unemployment for several years. While in 2010 the unemployment rate fluctuated at around 14 percent, Slovakia has managed to lower it significantly since then. "In the historical context, the unemployment rate in Slovakia has now definitely taken a downward trend, hitting one of its lowest levels at the moment. Nevertheless, it's probably declining at a slower pace than we would wish," said CSOB analyst Marek Gabriš.
