Smer voters most upbeat about March election

Sentiments concerning the upcoming general election appear to be split almost evenly. As the MVK poll suggests, the vote on March 5 leaves almost 35 percent of people emotionally detached. In some 31 percent of people, the election triggers negative associations such as anxiety and hopelessness, but for the same amount of people-that is, over 31 percent-await the election with optimism and hope. Optimism and hope were most commonly expressed by voters of the presently governing Smer-SD party (55.7 percent), followed by the Slovak National Party voters (36.8 percent) and the ethnic-Hungarian SMK party supporters (34.1 percent). Conversely, those most concerned came from the ranks of the OLaNO-NOVA supporters (55.8 percent), ahead of people voting for SDKU-DS and the Christian Democrats. Prior to the general election in 2012 - more than 52 percent of people had negative emotions about the vote then.
