Roma ethnics represent about 10% of Slovakia’s population and have been often criticized by the majority for not having education among their top priorities in life. But for years human rights experts have been warning that many Roma pupils are in fact discouraged to go to school by the very way the education system works. Ethnic segregation has been detected in practice inspite of strong legislation that forbids it.
