Although Slovakia's parliamentary elections will be in the beginning of March, Slovaks living abroad, who wish to vote, have only until Friday, January 15 to request authorities for ballots.
Slovak citizens living abroad can send the application for participation in the elections to the National Council of Slovakia either by post or email. Those with a permanent residence abroad must send their applications to the Interior Ministry, particularly to the Department for Elections. Slovaks who live abroad only temporarily, and have their permanent residence in Slovakia must send the request to their municipal office. It is important that the requests arrive to the authorities by January 15.
Voters will then receive via registered mail their ballots with a prepaid envelope. The envelopes with the selected ballot have to be then returned to the town residence or the Interior Ministry no later than the last working day before polling day, therefore, no later than March 4, 2016.
