Almost a hundred Slovak and Polish companies gathered at the Slovakia-Poland Economic Cooperation Forum on Tuesday, in the Polish city of Rzeszow. The event was organised by the Slovak Embassy in Warsaw and the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) with the aim of promoting trade and investment links between the two countries.
According to the embassy, Slovakia is being presented at the forum as a country of investment opportunities, a reliable business partner and an attractive tourist destination. The programme included individual consultations, B2B negotiations and presentations of successful examples of cooperation between Slovak and Polish companies.
Slovak Ambassador to Poland Andrea Elscheková-Matisová pointed to the regional potential of south-eastern Poland and north-eastern Slovakia, resulting from historical and people-to-people ties. "It is Poland that has clearly shown the best economic results among the central and eastern European countries in recent years," said the ambassador, highlighting the new opportunities brought by the development of infrastructure links and a shared neighbourhood with Ukraine.
"I'm convinced that we can build on the strong traditions of mechanical and electrical engineering and further develop synergy via the information and communications technology and aerospace industry," she said.
