A recent survey by Eximbanka, conducted in 2024 with 112 participants, reveals that Slovak exporters are increasingly seeking markets outside the European Union. This shift is driven by ongoing global uncertainties, including military conflicts, trade barriers, and an economic slowdown in the EU.
Interest is highest in Ukraine (19%), followed by sub-Saharan Africa (16%), and the Western Balkans—particularly Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (15%).
The survey also found that 72% of exporters can enter developing markets independently, while 21% consider cooperation essential, utilizing subcontracting, consortia, or acquisitions.
