Slovakia Records One of the Fastest Inflation Rates in the Eurozone

Slovakia’s inflation rate reached 4.5% in July, making it one of the highest in the eurozone, according to preliminary data released by Eurostat on Friday. Only Estonia saw faster price growth at 5.6%, while Croatia matched Slovakia’s inflation pace.

Across the euro area, the average annual inflation rate is estimated at 2%, meaning Slovak prices are rising more than twice as fast. The lowest inflation was recorded in Cyprus at just 0.1%.

Within the eurozone, the steepest price increases were seen in food, alcohol, and tobacco (up 3.3%), while energy prices fell by 2.5% year-on-year.
