PM Fico: Slovakia ahead of schedule in Recovery Plan implementation

The implementation of Slovakia’s Recovery Plan is progressing faster than expected, Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SSD) announced on Monday following his meeting with Vice-premier for the Recovery Plan and a Knowledge-based Economy, Peter Kmec (Hlas-SD).

Out of 221 planned milestones, 93 have already been met, placing the government several months ahead of schedule. Fico noted that €3.5 billion of the total €6.4 billion allocation is currently in state accounts, with an additional €570 million expected soon.

According to the Prime Minister, Slovakia is now preparing to request its sixth payment — one of the largest to date, exceeding €1 billion — by the end of the first half of 2025. In total, nine payments are planned, with the final request due in September 2026. Fico described 2026 as a decisive year for fulfilling the plan’s objectives.

He also emphasized Slovakia’s active role in Ukraine’s reconstruction. He highlighted €101 million in EU funding available for Slovak-led energy infrastructure projects in Ukraine, which Slovak companies can use as loans for development initiatives in the region.
