Slovakia’s industrial production decreased by 0.4% year-on-year in April 2025, marking the third annual decline this year, according to the Statistics Office. However, the pace of the decline has slowed significantly compared to previous months. On a monthly basis, adjusted for seasonal effects, output rose slightly by 0.5%.
The April results were driven by a 6% year-on-year increase in the production of transport equipment, though growth in the automotive sector slowed to a third of the pace seen in March. In contrast, seven of the 15 monitored industrial sectors reported year-on-year declines, notably in electricity and gas supply (down 13%), machinery and equipment (down over 15%), and metal production (down nearly 7%).
Overall industrial output for the first four months of 2025 was down 0.8% compared to the same period last year.
