The National Union of Employers (RÚZ) has proposed a series of measures to reduce government spending without impacting employees' social standards. The union rejects tax increases as a solution for consolidating public finances.
Among the proposals, RÚZ suggests eliminating two public holidays, which could save the state €300 million annually. Another €40 million could be saved by abolishing holiday vouchers. The union also recommends cutting costs in state institutions and scrapping the early retirement option, which could save an additional €400 million. The Labour Minister Erik Tomáš rejects this.
Prime Minister Robert Fico expressed support for many of these proposals, although he noted that it would take years for them to yield results. He suggested abolishing one national and one religious holiday.
