Economy and Finance Ministers holding talks on trade and economic cooperation in China

Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenicky (Smer-SD) and Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Hlas-SD) are paying a working visit to China on Wednesday, where they should hold talks on trade and economic cooperation with representatives of Chinese firms there.

Officials of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) and managers engaged in investment support left for China with the ministers. "Over the next four days, we'll hold a series of negotiations at which we will speak about trade and economic cooperation directly with representatives of Chinese companies, i.e. with potential investors in Slovakia," stated Kamenicky.

A Slovak delegation led by Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) visited China in November 2024. Representatives of 56 firms joined the delegation at that time. During the official visit, they signed a total of 13 agreements and memoranda of understanding on mutual cooperation with Chinese entities, mainly in the areas of economy, transport, tourism, environment and culture.

Among other things, potential cooperation on the planned construction of the Carpathian Tunnel, the reconstruction of bridges, and a cargo port on the Danube River were mentioned during the November visit.
