Public bought government bonds worth €263 million on first day of sale

Bonds totaling €263 million were sold on the first day of the sale of government bonds to the public on Monday (March 3), the Debt and Liquidity Management Agency (ARDAL) announced on Tuesday.

With regard to the huge level of demand, ARDAL has decided to increase the value of bonds on offer from €400 million to €500 million.

The banks cooperating in the bond sale have sold Investor bonds with a two-year maturity period for €140 million and four-year Patriot bonds for €123 million so far. The sale of bonds will continue until the final planned sum of €500 million is reached, said ARDAL.

The sale of bonds for the public is being mediated by five banks, namely, CSOB, Slovenska sporitelna, Tatra banka, UniCredit Bank and Vseobecna uverova banka (VUB). "The bonds are available to people only through the these banks' branches all over Slovakia and their e-distribution channels," added ARDAL.

The interest rates are 3 percent for the two-year Investor bond and 3.3 percent for the four-year Patriot bond, with the yield being exempt of taxes, levies and fees. The minimum bond value is €1,000, and the first purchase opportunity is limited to March, or until the whole issue is sold out. Bonds can subsequently be traded on the stock exchange.
