FinMin: State revenue shortfall this year will reach €370 mn, next year €87 mn

The shortfall in state revenues will reach approximately €370 million in 2025 and €87 million in 2026, the Finance Ministry stated in its latest forecast of state revenues and expenditures expected in the coming years.

According to the Finance Ministry, the deterioration of economic developments abroad, the slowdown in corporate consumption growth and profitability will naturally be reflected in lower expected revenues to the budget. On the other hand, lower expected inflation, which has also been pushed down by the government's capping of energy prices, is dampening expenditure growth.

Analysts at the Financial Policy Institute (IFP) are forecasting lower revenue for the budget than they estimated in their November prediction. This is an expected move by which the Finance Ministry responds to the deteriorating macroeconomic environment across the European Union and to growing global uncertainties.
