How interested are foreign residents in local politics in Slovakia?

On Saturday, November 15th, Slovaks and foreigners with permanent residency in Slovakia will choose the mayors and local MPs for their town and villages.

A survey done in October but published last Friday by the TNS agency concluded that 56% of voters are concerned with a lack of job opportunities in their locality and region followed by the quality of roads which concerns  47% of people. Corruption and cronyism ranked third with 27% and to some analysts’ surprise voters seemed less concerned about healthcare, the lack of flats and the unsatisfactory quality of local schools. Do foreigners living in this country have similar concerns and will they vote on Saturday? Anca Dragu reports.
