Twenty years ago the United Nations declared October 17th „The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty“ . Poverty is defined in many ways depending on the organisation that deals with it, and usually unemployment comes to mind first when the topic is mentioned.
There are, however, people who have jobs but earn so little that they are in fact poor. They are called the „working poor“ and in Slovakia’s case they count for about 7% of all employees. Anca Dragu discussed this issue with sociologist Daniel Gerbery from the Institute for the Research of the Labour Market.
