Feburary 3, the law suit with artists and activists Peter Kalmus and Ľuboš Lorenz will start. The Kosice based, east Slovakia, artists painted red the bust of communist leader Vasil Bilak a year ago in his home village of Krajna Bystra. The prosecution claims that they damaged the object of another person and caused the Communist Party of Slovakia harm of over EUR 1600. The accused claim they acted in self defense as to avoid committing the crime of promoting movements leading to suppressing basic rights and freedom as well as denial and approval of communist regime crimes. According to them, this was done by the installation of the monument.
