On the occasion of Holocaust Memorial Day, Slovak president Andrej Kiska took part at the opening of the permanent exposition of the Holocaust museum in Sered, south Slovakia, along with Prime Minister Robert Fico and the parliamentary chairman Peter Pellegrini. The exposition was founded by the Slovak National Museum in co-operation with Culture ministry. When speaking about paying tribute to holocaust victims on January 27, the Slovak-Czech documentary Nicky's family was chosen by the BBC as the main TV contribution to Holocaust Memorial Day. The main BBC One programme thus featured a film presenting Sir Nicholas Winton, the British lawyer who helped saving lives of hundreds of children of Jewish families living in the wartime Czechoslovakia back in 1938. The film was directed by Slovak director Matej Mináč and co-produced by Slovak producer Patrik Pašš.
