Ornaments: abstract, yet so real

Ornaments: abstract, yet so real

In Slovak folk music distinctive musical ornaments offer hints to the region the music originates from. The same goes for traditional folk clothing. Zuzana Botikova now takes us to the northern Slovak region of Orava to see another kind of folk ornaments which have been installed in the open-air museum of Orava village in Zuberec. These ornaments are made of wire and they are part of the latest exhibition of Welsh artist Julia Griffiths-Jones, which is called A Room within a Room. Her work has been inspired by Slovak folk culture, which she fell in love with since her first visits to Czechoslovakia over 30 years ago.
