The Radio Head Awards 2026, an annual ceremony organized by public radio station Radio_FM, became the center of controversy on Friday after several jury members and award recipients criticized Culture Minister Martina Šimkovičová during the live broadcast.
Originally scheduled to air on Sunday evening, the recording will no longer be broadcast, STVR management announced. The decision was reportedly motivated by concerns over the perceived politicization of the event, which was supported with approximately €80,000 in public funding.
In an open letter to the artistic community, STVR Director General Martina Flašíková addressed the statements made during the ceremony. She argued that some of the criticism did not reflect the actual situation and stressed the importance of impartiality and professionalism. “We wish artists success in their activities outside our institution,” Flašíková concluded.
