SLOVAK AUTHOR AT BRUSSELS BOOK FAIR
On Friday, 27 March, Slovak writer and award-winning screenwriter Peter Balko will take part in the prestigious Foire du Livre de Bruxelles. At the invitation of the Paris-based publisher Éditions Bleu et Jaune, he will present the new French translation of his novel Ostrov.
The event will take place on the Creative Europe stage in the form of an expert dialogue between the author and his publisher, highlighting the growing international interest in contemporary Slovak literature.
EASTER CONCERTS IN BRATISLAVA
The Slovak Chamber Orchestra invites audiences to St. Martin’s Cathedral on Palm Sunday, March 29. The program features Joseph Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross, traditionally performed in Bratislava during the pre-Easter period, with spoken word by actor Štefan Bučko.
Then on March 31, the Haydn Ensemble, led by Martin Petrák, will present a concert of 17th- and 18th-century music.
EUROPEAN FILM MINIFESTIVAL ON TOUR
The 20th 5x5 European Film Minifestival kicks off in Bratislava on March 30 and runs through April 1. The event will bring five standout European films to audiences in five Slovak cities—Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Prešov, and Žilina.
The lineup includes the Oscar-winning The Emotional Value, alongside A Minor Accident by Jafar Panahi, Can You Hear Me? by Eva Libertad, Looking into the Sun by Mascha Schilinski, and the drama Sirat, directed by Oliver Laxe.
All screenings are free of charge; advance seat reservation is required. The event is organized by Creative Europe Desk Slovakia, in cooperation with the European Parliament Office in Slovakia and the Cinemax.
OUTDOOR EXHIBITION IN KOŠICE
The exhibition Behind Everything, Look for a Woman runs from March 27 to April 26 in the botanical garden in Košice.
Artist Ľuba Selepová presents her distinctive “clay ladies,” blending garden ceramics with figurative sculpture, all with a gentle touch of humor. More than 40 ceramic works are installed directly in flower beds throughout the garden’s main ornamental area.
CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS EXTENDED
Due to strong international interest, organizers have extended the submission deadline for the open call themed “Welcome to Paradise.” Photographers can now submit their work until March 29.
The call is open to professionals and amateurs of all ages, offering a chance to showcase selected works at the Paradajs Photo Fest 2026 in Banská Štiavnica.
