Oscar Čepan Award Presents New Laureates’ Exhibition in Trnava
The Oscar Čepan Award team invites the public to this year’s laureates’ show titled Art is not a comp Art is not a competition, but I’m winning. The exhibition, featuring new works by Nikola Balberčáková, Ráchel Jutka a Ľuboš Kotlár, opens on 12 December at the Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava and will be running until 1 March, 2026. Slovak State Philharmonic Košice Welcomes the Holidays With Special Concert Series
English speakers visiting or living in Slovakia are invited to get into the holiday spirit with the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice, which is presenting a festive lineup of December concerts.
On Thursday, 18 December, the orchestra will open its seasonal program with a performance inspired by one of the most beloved Christmas classics. The celebrations continue on 20–21 December with a weekend event built around a work that has become a treasured holiday tradition in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The season will conclude on 1 January with the orchestra’s annual New Year’s Concert. Košice Phil’s Jana Tomalová has more:

Slovak Author to Launch New English-Language Christmas Novel in Prešov
Slovak author Lily Mihaľová is set to introduce her latest novel, an English-language Christmas story that captures the charm and chaos of real family holidays. Through humorous mishaps, heartfelt moments, and nostalgic memories, the novel celebrates the beauty of an imperfect holiday.
The official launch will take place at the Prešov County Library on Friday, 19 December. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the author, learn more about the story’s inspirations, and enjoy a festive start to the holiday season. Both, in Slovak and English.
