On Sunday, October 26, the opening concert of the Slovak Chamber Orchestra’s new season took place in the Slovak Philharmonic Concert Hall in Bratislava. This year marks 65 years since the founding of the orchestra and its first concert, a milestone that the ensemble will honor throughout the season.
The opening program celebrated the orchestra’s roots, featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Ilja Zeljenka’s Musica Slovaca—a signature work closely associated with the ensemble—and a rare orchestral arrangement of Antonín Dvořák’s American Quartet.
Looking ahead, in February 2026, the Slovak Chamber Orchestra will commemorate the anniversary of its first public concert, performing the same program presented in 1961, a nod to its artistic beginnings.
