Renowned Architect Peter Brtko Has Died at 87

Architect Peter Brtko, creator of the Children’s Town in Trenčín–Zlatovce, passed away on October 21 at the age of 87. The news was confirmed by Branislav Ladický, a former resident of the Children’s Town. Brtko was a key figure behind the 1975 Dušan Jurkovič Award–winning project, which became a model of social and architectural innovation. His work was later recognized as a national cultural monument in 2017. Throughout his career, Brtko received numerous awards, including the Jože Plečnik Prize and the Fund of Fine Arts Award for his lifelong contribution to Slovak architecture.
