The Lúčnica Choir won gold in two categories — mixed choirs and folklore — at the 2025 Sarawak International Choir Competition held in Kuching, Malaysia.
Under the artistic direction and conducting of Elena Matušová, Lúčnica was the only European choir participating in the event. “The ensemble competed against 17 Asian choirs from Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and the Philippines. The international jury praised the choir’s crystal-clear sound, vocal technique, and dynamic expression across a diverse repertoire,” Berlinová said, adding that the choir performed in traditional Slovak folk costumes.
