Be2Can Film Festival Brings Cannes, Venice, and Berlinale Highlights to Bratislava

From October 15 to 22, Bratislava hosts the 12th Be2Can Film Festival, showcasing a curated selection of films from three of the world’s most prestigious festivals—Cannes, Venice, and Berlinale. This year’s lineup includes several exciting new releases, such as the German coming-of-age comedy with a touch of telepathy, What Marielle Knows, directed by Frédéric Hambalek; the psychological thriller A Private Life by Rebecca Zlotowski, featuring Jodie Foster in her first French-speaking role; and the Japanese mystery horror film The Exit 8 by Genki Kawamura, inspired by a popular video game. One World Documentary Festival Returns to Bratislava with Powerful Stories

Starting on October 21, Bratislava will host One World, the international documentary film festival organized by the People in Peril organization. As Slovakia’s largest and oldest documentary festival, One World will present 30 films, including Oscar-winning titles like 20 Days in Mariupol. The festival will also feature a competition section focused on human rights issues in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, highlighting important social themes through powerful storytelling.

Czech and Slovak Film Heroines Celebrate Their Legacy in Porto Alegre

From October 17 to November 2, the Capitólio Film Library in Porto Alegre, Brazil, will showcase a special program dedicated to Czech and Slovak film heroines. The event features more than forty classic feature-length and short films that highlight the significant contributions of women in Czech and Slovak cinema. Slovak cinema will be represented by Jaroslava Havettová, known as the first lady of animated film, celebrating her influential work and legacy.
