The 12th Be2Can film festival opened in Bratislava, running until October 22 and screening 12 acclaimed films from Berlin, Venice, and Cannes. The opening film, Mother, stars Noomi Rapace as Mother Teresa in a portrait of her complexity, directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska.

Other festival highlights include Berlinale’s satirical drama What Marielle Knows and Cannes political films such as Orly of the Republic, Raoul Peck’s Orwell: 2+2=5, and The Disappearance of Mengele. Cult classics like Kevin Smith’s Dogma also return to the big screen. Organized by Film Europe, Be2Can takes place in 45 cinemas across 37 Slovak towns, with Bratislava’s Pistoriho Palace as the hub, featuring screenings and a student jury from VŠMU and VŠVU.
