The Slovak film Tichá pošta (Silent Post) has been selected for the 78th Locarno Film Festival, taking place from August 6th to 16th in Switzerland. The Czech-Slovak-Serbian co-production will be featured in the Locarno Kids section, dedicated to young audiences.
Set in the final days of Nazi occupation in the Czech Krkonoše Mountains, the story follows a group of children who secretly help a French pilot using a “silent mail” system, passing messages between mountain villages.
The film is based on Jiří Stránský’s novella, inspired by real events, and is directed by a team of acclaimed Slovak filmmakers. It had its world premiere earlier this year at the Zlín Film Festival.
