Slovak director wins top prize at Karlovy Vary Film Festival

Slovak director Miro Remo won the Crystal Globe at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on Saturday for his documentary ‘Better Go Mad in the Wild.’

The documentary tells the story of two eccentric brothers, identical twins Ondřej and František, and their secluded life far from civilisation. It’s a loose adaptation of a book by Czech author Aleš Palán, who interviewed nine recluses living in the Šumava mountains in Czechia.

Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård presented the award, with Remo calling it “the greatest honour” of his filmmaking career.
