Východná jubilee festival to open with full-length program by Lúčnica

A full-length program dedicated to composer Svetozár Stračina, performed by the Lúčnica artistic ensemble, will open the 70th anniversary edition of the Východná Folklore Festival on Thursday evening, on the large stage of the amphitheatre in Východná. According to Ľudovít Andrejo from the National Educational Centre (Národné osvetové centrum), more than 1 500 performers will take the stage over the four days of the festival.

In the following three days, visitors can look forward to programs such as Ľudoví ľudia (Folk People) by Štefan Štec; Naša pieseň (Our Song), a continuation of last year’s program Domovy (Homes); and Tri svety (Three Worlds), featuring performances by folklore ensembles celebrating their anniversaries. The festival will culminate on Sunday afternoon with a festive gala program subtitled Aby sme nezabudli (Lest We Forget).

The Východná Folklore Festival is organized by the National Educational Centre, a state-funded organization under the Culture Ministry of the Slovak Republic. It is the oldest and most extensive event in Slovakia in the field of traditional culture, folklore, and folklorism.
