Alfonz Mucha and folklore in Piešťany
Visitors to
the world-famous spa town of Piešťany can see works by art nouveau
artist Alfons Mucha at an exhibition that is part of the international
project Mucha’s Journey. The show, entitled Alfons Mucha & Folklore,
is dedicated to the use of elements of folk art in the works of the
renowned painter; it explores their context and symbolic meanings. In
cooperation with the Imrich Winter Balneological Museum, the artwork is
complemented by a set of traditional costumes from the Piešťany region.
The exhibition is open until October 2025.
The festival New Drama will host a discussion on contemporary Georgian theatre on Monday, May 12. The Focus Georgia event will present parts of several plays in public reading, followed by a debate in English. The historical context and contemporary diversity of Georgian drama will be presented in a theory event by Professor Lela Ochiauri, Head of the Department of Film Criticism and Theory at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University in Tbilisi.
Ukrainian films in Slovakia
Displayed selves is the topic of the festival entitled “Days of Ukrainian Cinema” that is organized together by the Goethe Institut Bratislava and the Slovak Film Institute. From May 14th through 16th, it will present the latest films that have won top prizes at international festivals, as selected by the curators of the Ukrainian Film Festival in Berlin.
