The director of the Slovak Press Photo competition, Jana Garvoldtová, has been awarded a commemorative plaque by the New York Press Photographers Association (NYPPA). The award, which is associated with her admission to this prestigious association that brings together leading photographers in the fields of reportage and documentary photography, was presented to her by Bruce Cotler, President of NYPPA, during the opening of the Slovak Press Photo exhibition at the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in New York. Garvoldtová confirmed that she is the first European to be accepted into NYPPA.
The highlight of the event was a group portrait in Times Square, captured by photographer Debra Rothenberg, featuring legendary women of photojournalism and photo-editing.
