Slovakia unveils national pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka

Slovakia officially opened its national pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, on Sunday, joining the global event themed Designing Future Society for Our Lives, with a focus on sustainability.

The launch was attended by senior Slovak officials, including State Secretaries Martin Krnáč and Mário Maruška, Expo Commissioner General Michaela Kovačičová, and Ambassador to Japan Ivan Surkoš.

“Our goal is to showcase Slovakia as an inspiring and unique destination,” said Kovačičová, highlighting the national motto Slovakia – the Heart of Inspiration.

Slovakia Travel Director General Matej Fekete emphasized tourism’s key role in the economy and noted the Expo's potential to boost visitor numbers and international business ties.

The pavilion will rotate through themes such as water, wine, innovation, health, and heritage, with Slovakia’s National Day set for September 10. A bilingual brochure and eco-friendly mascot KINJI, 3D-printed from recycled ocean plastic, will represent the country’s sustainability message.

The Slovak exhibit will feature workshops, tastings, product showcases, cultural events, and interactive activities, and is located in a shared hall with Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, and Uruguay. Some events will also be held in the EU Pavilion auditorium.

Expo 2025 runs from April 13 to October 13 and is expected to attract 28 million visitors, including over 3.5 million from abroad.
