Art of naive painters from Kovačica to be projected on Presidential Palace facade

The works of naive painters from the Serbian town of Kovačica will come to life on the facade of the Presidential Palace. The public will be able to view a light projection of the artworks from Hodžovo Square on Thursday, March 20, between 18:00 and 22:00. The Slovak President's Office communication department informed TASR about the event.

"The greetings from Kovačica to the capital and all of Slovakia will be delivered through their paintings by internationally recognized artist Zuzana Chalupová, along with artists Martin Jonáš and Ján Kňazovic," stated the President's Office. The projection of 30 works (ten paintings by each artist) will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of prominent representatives of Kovacica's naive painting.

As the President's Office explained, the projection will symbolically highlight the importance of this style of painting within Slovakia's cultural heritage abroad. They also noted that in December last year, Kovačica's art was added to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. "This achievement is not only a success for these artists but also for the Slovak foreign community," the statement added.

The projection is organized by the civic association Biela noc in cooperation with the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad.
