The Zvolen train station (Banská Bystrica region) has been granted the status of a national cultural heritage monument, as the Monuments Authority recognized its significance among railway buildings constructed after 1945, TASR learned from Culture Ministry spokesperson Petra Bačinská on Thursday.
The station was built based on blueprints drafted by architect and Zvolen native Jozef Lacko, employing the socialist realism architectural style.
A motion to include the station on the cultural heritage list was submitted in 2020 by a civic association called Friends of Zvolen Architecture Association.
