The films Vlny and Ema a smrtihlav (Ema and the Death’s head) received the most nominations for the Slnko v sieti (Sun in the Network) awards for 2024. Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) awarded Jiří Mádl's period drama Vlny 14 nominations. Ema a smrtihlav by director Iveta Grófová has a total of 12 nominations.
Fourteen films were submitted for the prestigious Best Feature Film category this year. According to the organizers, the National Film Awards are enjoying growing interest, which reflects the increase in film and television production and its quality.
"A total of 49 film and television works were submitted," the organizers reported. Fifteen works were submitted for the Best Documentary category, five titles for the Best Animated Film category, and eight audiovisual works for the Best Television Film/Miniseries/Series category. The ceremony of the national film awards Slnko v sieti for the year 2024 will take place on April 16 at the premises of Slovak Radio.
