The actor, politician and first head of Bratislava self-governing region Lubomir Roman died on Monday at the age of 77. Roman worked for many years as an actor at the Nova scena theatre in Bratislava. He was also an MP and culture minister in Jozef Moravcik's Cabinet (1994). In 2001, he became the first Chairman of the Bratislava self-governing region. "He [Roman] showed how important regional self-government is. He healed education and culture, while improving health care. He pointed out the importance of EU funds long before we acquired the first of them," the incumbent head of Bratislava region Juraj Droba wrote on a social network.
