On Wednesday, May 22nd, the protest entitled We stand by culture! was held in front of the Slovak Culture Ministry. It was initiated by the We stand by culture! platform which reacted to the latest steps taken by the Culture Minister Ľubica Laššáková a week ago. From her position, Laššáková decided to deny grants to projects submitted by LGBTI communities despite having been approved by the Ministry's experts. At the same time, she approved shortcuts in budgets allocated for so called priority projects in several cultural institutions, including representative organisations such as the Slovak National Gallery and the Slovak National Museum.
