On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Slovak Republic, President Andrej Kiska handed state honours to 30 personalities of different spheres of social life in Slovakia with a significant number of awardees coming from within the sphere of culture. He did so for the very last time in his presidential term, as the new President of the Slovak Republic is to be elected in March. In his speech, Kiska stressed that the awards are granted to people who have contributed to making Slovakia a better, nicer, wiser, more decent and more just place.
