Drunkville not Baskerville – Slovak detective fiction

With Sherlock Holmes from the popular BBC series having just recently solved his Final Problem, we have decided to find out if he has solved any crimes in Slovakia. It turned out Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were asked to solve the murder in Slopná. Slopná is the real name of a small village in northern Slovakia, which could be loosely translated as Drunkville. The Slovak Agatha Christie, Daniela Kapitáňová, wrote about this unusual adventure. But there are also other interesting detective related issues connected to Slovakia. Zuzana Botikova gathered important clues from the readers, writers, publishers and theorists of Slovak detective stories to paint the whole picture.
