Slovak radio stations have been playing more Slovak music as since the beginning of this year. The amendment of the act on broadcasting and retransmission raised the percentage of Slovak songs again with effect from January 1, 2017. After this latest increase in quotas, local music productions must make up at least 25% of commercial radio play-lists while the minimum set for the RTVS public broadcaster is 35%. The act also defines the ratio of recent local productions to be aired. Songs no older than 5 years have to make up at least a fifth of the Slovak music aired on Slovak radio stations. Quotas for local music on Slovak radio stations first came into force in April 2016.
