The New York Dance and Performance award, or more familiarly Bessie, is decided upon by dancers, producers, choreographers, journalists, critics and academics who choose the winners following their innovative approach to dance and related performances. The Slovak Bessie award winner will give the cult performance HOLEULONE back home. He will perform as part of the Belgian dance group Dame de Pic / Cie Karine Ponties. The production was granted the Belgian critics prize for the best dance performance of the year 2007. It will be possible to see it in Zilina Zariecie October 7, Tabacka Kulturfabrik in Kosice, in the east of Slovakia, on October 11 and in Zahrada - an independent cultural centre in Banska Bystrica, central Slovakia, on October 14. RSI has asked the star performer what is so special about Slovak dance performers that makes them so attractive for experts abroad?
