Nuit européenne des musees or the Long night of museum will open the doors to museums and galleries to the public also in Slovakia Saturday, May 21. The visitors will be able to enter these institutions for free. By the late evening and even in the night, the public can see the main expositions and exhibitions presented in an attractive way and also the so called behind the curtain activities such as entering deposits and watching restorers work. For 11 years, the event has been organised under the auspices of the European Council as part of celebrations of the International Museum day. It was set for May 18 back in 1977 to promote the importance and role of museums and galleries in saving, protecting and making public world cultural heritage.
