The Slovak language has its first etymology dictionary ever. The Concise Etymology Dictionary of the Slovak language explains the origin of more than 10 000 individual words of our language. As its author Ľubor Králik says, it is concise because of the lack of older vocabulary, dialects or proper nouns such as Bratislava, London or Gavin. The dictionary is a pop science book focusing mainly on contemporary vocabulary. It was published by the Slovak Academy of Sciences together with the M-N volume of the Contemporary Slovak language dictionary.
