SND ballet dances Slovak dances

The Slovak National Theatre premiered sixteen orchestral suite dances by Slovak composer Peter Breiner Friday, February 19. In bringing his Slovak dances to the stage, this New York based musician co-operated with the young Slovak choreographer Natalia Horečná who has been successful in several European countries. Based on Slovak folk songs, the music follows the line of composers such as Béla Bartók, Antonin Dvořák or Alexander Borodin. Nevertheless, the viewers should not expect traditional folk dancing on stage as the contemporary choreography has the ambition to enrich Slovak dance with the modern dimension.
